A picture an hour

This past weekend we went to Michigan for a friend's wedding.  I thought about doing a vlog, but I wasn't planning on bringing my computer and I knew I would run out of phone memory.  So instead I decided to take one photo every hour.

Here's our first day in Grand Rapids, by the hour:

8am - At the airport waiting for our plane.

9am - The view out our plane window.

10am - Still on the plane and not sure how we feel about it

11am - We made it to Grand Rapids and picked up a tasty snack (London Fog and Coffee Cake for me)

12pm - Peter's best friend's mom picked us up and took us to run some errands, such as picking up some items for the wedding, as well as picking up Peter's tux.

1pm - We took a drive-by tour of downtown Grand Rapids

2pm - We made it back to the house and relaxed with Netflix (Pictured is an episode of Sherlock).

3pm - Peter and his best friend.

4pm - A spot of tea to keep us warm.  We were not used to 30 degree weather!  It's still in the high 70s in Alabama!

5pm - Fully naked trees.  Also something that's not a familiar site down south.

6pm - I took a much needed nap and failed to get a picture.

7pm - We were going out for dinner and I could not get a cute picture.  They're all blurry because Peter and his friend were making me laugh too much.  This was the best I could get.

8pm - Dinner! (Thai friend rice)

9pm - Back at the house, back with Netflix!

And that's pretty much where it ends.  We went to bed early that night.

I hope you enjoyed this post!  I will soon be posting a bit more about the trip.  It was a great time to catch up with friends and take a little break from school!

Coffee Table Wedding Album || & A Mini Review

This post is not sponsored.

I recently saw an ad on Facebook for a company called Artisan State.  They were advertising digital photo books for as low as $5.  I was intrigued.  So I went to their site and created an account.  Sure enough, for your first order you could choose from a photo album or framed 8x10 for as low as $5 (plus shipping/handling).  I ordered one right away!

This book is small, and it is perfect for my coffee table.  The $5 version gives you only 20 pages (10 pages front and back), but you can add as many photos as you want to each page (the more photos you add, the smaller the photos will be).  The layouts are easy to use.  They don't crop any of your photos, and you can rearrange and adjust as much as you want.  They have pre-set layouts that you can choose from, and you can specify the number of horizontal and portrait photos that you have for each page.  The layouts adjust accordingly.  Very simple and easy to use.

The pages are thick card stock and feel very durable.

That is dog hair, not a print imperfection ;)

Some of my favorite inside pages:

These full-page spreads are my favorite

Back Cover:

The print quality is ok, but it's probably not the best you'll find out there.  The covers are a little blurry.  But I love that they give you the option of doing a full-page of one picture.  The pictures go all the way to the edge and, to me, look really awesome.  I didn't include pictures of the reception (cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc) because I was limited to so few pages.

Overall, for $5 these are an excellent deal.  I don't think I would purchase one at full price though ($30 for 20 pages).  There just aren't enough pages to justify the price.

I'm keeping this one on my coffee table!  Do you think you will try it out yourself?  For $5 you can't go wrong!  They still have the $5 deal going on now.  Click here to try it out.

Note: I purchased this album with my own money and did the review on my own whim.  Artisan State has no idea who I am.

We got married at a park in San Diego, CA.  The park is called Ventura Cove and is located in Mission Bay.  It is one of my favorite places in San Diego.

Reenacting Our Wedding

As many of you know, Peter and I just had our FIRST ANNIVERSARY!  Woohoo!  We made it!  haha!  Actually it seems like we've been married forever, but at the same time, it seems like our wedding was just yesterday.  So much has happened this past year.  Eight days after our wedding we moved to Rio de Janeiro.  A few weeks ago we moved back to the U.S., and in less than 2 weeks we are moving to Alabama.  This California girl might have more culture shock in the deep South than in Brazil!  :)

To celebrate our anniversary, we spent the day in San Diego.  My family lives a couple of hours away from San Diego, in the desert, in the middle of nowhere.  It is expected to reach 115 degrees this week, so we were so grateful for a day in beautiful San Diego.

Get ready for an overload of pictures.  The day was just toooo beautiful.  The sky and water were so blue, the grass so green, the weather absolute perfection.  All of these photos were taken with my phone and remain unfiltered and unprocessed.

I wish it had been so vibrant the day we got married, but, alas, it was a little gray.

Peter prepared a picnic.  It was adorable and yummy:

After our picnic, we headed over to Seaport Village, which is probably my favorite place in San Diego.  They have amazing little shops, views, and the weather and atmosphere was perfect.

A human statue.  We gave him a dollar.

There's a small pond in Seaport Village, and I found these adorable baby ducks hanging out with their mom.  So cute!

I wish my family lived closer than 2 hours to San Diego - I wish they lived IN San Diego!  Wouldn't that be amazing!

We had such a fun anniversary celebration.  Thanks for letting me share my pictures with you.

Which selfie should we print and frame?

XO,

Julie

P.S. Who is interested in hearing our "love" story?  We met online and had a long distance relationship while Peter lived in Brazil.  Should I do a post about it?

Silly

Sometimes you browse through your dropbox (what is it about me and dropbox these days?) and find a wedding picture you hadn't posted.  It's just too fabulous not to share with the world.

P.S. Yes, we had 6 bridesmaids and 2 groomsmen.  I wanted to include all of my sisters (3), sisters-in-law (2) and best friend (1).  Peter included his best friend and his brother.  I told the bridesmaids to find a dress they liked in a shade of pink.  I was hoping they would find styles that flattered their body types, didn't cost too much money, and that they might be able to wear again.  The males had to wear yellow ties or bow ties, no jackets.  I wore a dress by David's Bridal and flat, sparkly sandals from Dillards.  We got married at Ventura Cove in Mission Bay Park in San Diego at 2pm.  We had refreshments and lawn games after the ceremony.

More wedding pics

I found some more wedding pics!  Well, it's not like they were "lost" or anything, I just went through my album and realized I hadn't posted any photos of us from our "photo shoot" after the wedding.

Which one should I frame?
